Desert Sol Chinooks
Kennel Description | Desert Sol Chinooks (est. 2012) is a small, hobby breeder of Chinooks, a rare American dog from New England originally bred as a sled dog. The Chinook has been described as "the "world's best kept secret" as they are loving, gentle, great for families, have a moderate energy level, are good working dogs, and make excellent companions (everything one could want in a dog!). We are located in Gilbert, Arizona (we know...that's a long ways from any snow), and are committed to responsibly promoting the breed in the southwestern United States. If you or someone you know is interested in a Chinook, please let us know and we can set up a meeting with our Chinook breed ambassador, Kyra. |

1.360 | 270 | Northwest Forest Litter | Desert Sol Vitality Avalanche (Ava) | Rain Mountain Pippin | Puppies have been confirmed! Now taking puppy applications on our website. https://desertsolchinooks.com/puppy_app.php Ava and Pippin both have been health-tested and have OFA "Good" hips, "Normal" eyes, and no known genetic conditions reflecting our commitment to responsible breeding. On the fun side of genetics, we are expecting all tawny pups (some with black masking). However, Pippin carries an interesting wolf sable coat gene that may provide some interesting coat color variation on a couple pups. Size should be average to above average for Chinooks (Ava is quite large and Pippin is average). Being a 75% Chinook/25% Bernese Mountain Dog litter, we are expecting heads to more closely resemble Chinooks but still retain some blockiness from the Berners. Temperaments are a standout for both dogs, and we expect these pups to be great family dogs. This will be a satellite litter for Desert Sol Chinooks with the puppies being raised west of Tacoma, Washington with Ava's family and Desert Sol assisting Ava's family as much as possible, including the screening and supporting of the puppy’s new homes. Since this is a Chinook Breed Conservation Program, we'll be especially interested in homes willing to keep their dogs open for future breeding. If interested in a puppy from this litter, please fill out a puppy application on our website. Ava is 50/50 Chinook/Bernese Mountain Dog and is a first generation dog that is part of the Chinook Breed Conservation Program (CBCP). She is being bred to a purebred Chinook and their puppies will be 75/25 (second generation). The CBCP is a UKC and COA sanctioned cross breeding program to bring new genetics to the Chinook gene pool. Learn more about the program: https://chinook.org/chinook-conservation-program/ |
